Environmental Policy

Kelburne Construction Limited recognises that our activities in the field of building and civil engineering have several important environmental effects.  We believe that the management of these effects is central to the implementation of this policy.  In this, the company will maintain standards, at a minimum that are required by legislation but also strive to adopt standards of industry best practice.

Construction Process Impacts:  We acknowledge that dust, noise and local disturbance are typically the main effects associated with the construction process on site.  Kelburne Construction will introduce site-specific management procedures to minimise these effects wherever practically feasible.  Construction activities will be managed to reduce any disturbance to local access and minimise the production of waste.  Waste that is generated will be segregated, recycled where practical or disposed of responsibly.

Environmental Pollutants:  Construction activities will be strictly controlled to minimise the possibility of environmental pollution.  The selection of chemicals will include prior assessment of their potential to cause environmental harm and the least damaging alternatives will be selected.  Strict operating procedures will be maintained to control these chemicals and to prevent accidents.

Energy Conservation:  We will promote energy conservation, in our office, yard and on our construction sites.

Use of Materials:  Where possible the specification/use of, materials will be designed to minimise the use of scarce, non-renewable resources and the environmental effects of their extraction.

Suppliers:  Kelburne Construction will encourage it’s suppliers to develop environmental policies to compliment it’s own.

Communication and Management:  The Directors of Kelburne Construction shall take responsibility for the implementation of the policy noted in this statement. We shall remain committed to a philosophy of continuous improvement to reduce any detrimental effects on the environment.
